Support for Otto and Bobbie Korth

Donation protected
Life takes unexpected turns and is never respectful of holidays.  One such turn has happened to Otto and Roberta (“Bobbie”) Korth.  Bobbie is the mother to Mound Westonka’s Constant family.  Kelly, Kris, Candy and Mikey and has been a mother to many of us over the years. She is also a dedicated friend and grandmother.

Just a week ago, Bobbie went into the doctor with, what she thought was an injured shoulder, unfortunately it was much more serious.  Bobbie has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer.  It has spread throughout her body and into her bones.  There are treatments to reduce the tumors and pain but the doctors are tell her that they see no cure at this time.

That on it’s own would be devastating enough.  However, Bobbie’s husband Otto has been in a wheelchair and Bobbie is his primary caregiver.  Bobbie has been at North Memorial Hospital and will soon be moved to Presbyterian Homes in Spring Park for an undetermined amount of time.  Otto had to be put immediately into nursing care and they are working on being put in the same facility.

During this season of giving and recently Veterans Day, we are reminded of our service men and women that put themselves on the line to insure this country is strong and freedom prevails.

Today we are hoping you consider showing your appreciation for one particular serviceman and his wife.  Otto and Bobbie Korth have been together for 20+ years.  They have enjoyed a wonderful life together but the financial strain of Otto’s nursing care and now this added situation with Bobbie means they are in need of your kindness and support.  Unfortunately the VA does not have a program to care for our veterans in their time of need.

Otto Korth is a retired Air Force General, Brigadier.  He flew troops and supplies throughout the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  He put his life at risk and fought for his country.  He continued his career as a corporate pilot for 3M but even those pensions and Social Security will not cover their expenses with both he and Bobbie needing care.  It’s hard to imagine a man of such stature be in this position and we know it weighs heavy on him to ask for help.

Please consider donating to this couple as a show of appreciation for Otto’s service as well as the nurturing care and friendship that Bobbie has given so many of us.

Happy Holidays to all and thank you!
