Helping Heroes

The New Athens Home for the Aged has been a part of the New Athens, IL community for almost 70 years...and many hearts and the community are grieving with its closing just weeks away.

Still and throughout those decades, the staff provides compassionate care through a resident's rehabilitation or the last season of their earthly life.

The thing about the staff of the New Athens Home for the Aged, is that residents quickly become like family. They have shown time and time again that the care poured out from their hearts and spirits surpasses the type of care found elsewhere. A team of healthcare heroes with family-like, solid, compassionate connections to their residents. Place ALL that in a small town in the heart of Southern Illinois, and you have a care team with DEEP roots that will stick with and support their residents with every ounce of their strength.

These are real people that are still working at the Home. People who have committed to caring for their residents until they leave their beloved New Athens Home and move to a new facility in a remote, surrounding community. Some of these people have been working there so long that they aren't "just" staff anymore. Instead, they are pillars of the Home itself and need our support beyond measure.

The Home's closing has brought MANY additional financial stressors to the already strapped nonprofit facility. Support is desparately needed to see it through to the final days before closing.
