Athen and Christian's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Athen and Christian Sellers, age 10, are both recovering from back to back surgeries performed on Saturday, November 22nd, and will need extended care and treatment as they begin their road to recovery.

Both twins were diagnosed with resistant MRSA Septicemia in their bloodstream at Lafayette General Medical Center on the 22nd and were sent in to Emergency Surgery.

Athen has Acute Osteomyelitis of his right femur and a Pyogenic Brodie’s abscess at the end of his bone, and septic shock. The surgeon went in behind his upper leg muscles and nerves to clean the abscess and bone, all of his tissues seem to be okay and not affected by the infection. Christian was diagnosed with septic arthritis of the ankle joint the surgeon was able to remove the infection from his joint and the joint does not appear to be affected by the infection.

The boys will be at the hospital through the Thanksgiving weekend. Both Boys will be sent home with walkers, Picclines for Antibiotic treatments of Vancomycin administered 3x’s per day, bi-weekly doctor’s visits, they will need 24/7 at home care, physical therapy, and will need to be home schooled throughout their treatments.

Christian’s treatment plan is scheduled for 4 weeks and Athen’s treatment plan is scheduled for 6-8 weeks.

The family is in need of financial assistance to help cover medical expenses and home care associated with the treatment plans to help Athen and Christian get healthy again.

We appreciate any help you can provide Athen and Christian. Thank you.
