Hurricane Relief: Los Encuentros, Limay, Nicaragua

My name is Katherine Huete and I am a teacher in Chicago. I was born and raised in Esteli, Nicaragua and parents currently live there. Our community has been hit by TWO Hurricanes, Iota and Eta. About 99.5% of properties on the Nicaraguan Caribbean coast are without electricity, the country's National System for Prevention and Attention to Disasters (Sinapred). In other parts of the country, particularly the northern areas where my parents live have seen flooding and landslides that have wiped out entire communities.  My parents have not been able to communicate with those living on the Atlantic Coast, my dad is waiting for the storm to pass to see if his friends have survived. It hurts to be so far away from my community and see the devastation to our home. 

Our community needs your support. I am asking for your help in raising money to purchase medicine, baby formula, food, clothing. My mom, Mayra Galeano is a doctor and will be providing medical attention to the communities of El Naranjo, Colocondo, Platanares, San Geronimo y Los Encuentros located in near Limay, Esteli. My parents will distribute the medication and supplies, and help with environmental clean up.
