Fast wöchentlich berichten die Nachrichten von neuen Naturkatastrophen. Durch die Häufigkeit fällt es uns schwer zu differenzieren was, wo ,wann passiert ist.
Wir werden regelrecht überflutet, durch die Medien .

Im August/September zog der Wirbelsturm "Irma (Kategorie4-Sturm)" über die Karibik und die USA, und hinterließ eine Schneise der Zerstörung.
Am 19. September folgte dann "Maria". Inseln die von "Irma" bereits betroffen waren, wurden wieder heimgesucht. (NICHT die Dominikanische Republik!!) hatte "Glück" mit Irma, da es nicht direkt getroffen wurde, sondern "nur" die Ausläufer des Sturms abbekam.
Bei "Maria" war alles anders:
Dominica (72000 Einwohner) wurde mit der vollen Wucht, eines Kategorie 5-Sturms getroffen und das Auge des Sturms lief direkt über die Insel drüber. Die Insel wurde, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes: Kurz und klein geschlagen. Mindestens 80 % der Häuser wurden zerstört oder beschädigt, Schulen dem Erdboden gleich gemacht, Straßen und Brücken wegschwemmt. 27 Menschen, sind bis jetzt offiziell zu Tode gekommen, 50 werden noch vermisst.
Die Hilfsaktionen haben begonnen die Infrakstruktur wieder herzustellen und  Wasser, Lebensmittel, Hilfsgüter zu verteilen und die Menschen medizinisch zu versorgen. Doch ist dies, wie fast immer "Ein Tropfen auf dem heißen Stein"
Es fehlt an ALLEM was zum Leben notwendig ist, und es wird noch Jahre dauern bis wieder alles beim Alten ist.

Hilfe wird geleistet, doch kommt sie nicht immer dort an wo sie gebraucht wird, sondern kann auch in den Taschen der falschen Personen landen....

Wenn die gröbsten Schäden beseitigt sind, werden auch die Hilforganisationen wieder verschwinden, und die Insel ihrem Schicksal überlassen.

Ich möchte dem  entgegensetzen und dort Hilfe leisten, wo sie am nötigsten gebraucht wird, und die Menschen erreicht.  Menschen die keine (reichen) Verwandte in Übersee haben oder so abgeschieden wohnen, dass sie die letzten sein werden, die etwas von den Hilfeleistungen abbekommen, wenn überhaupt...

Dear World!

We all were in shock when 'Hurricaine Irma' hit the West Indies.
Lives were lost and communities destroyed. Even a whole island (Barbuda) is for the time being deserted as there is nothing left.
Then came 'Hurricane Maria'....islands that just made it through Irma got touched by Maria again.

Dominica, was lucky that Irma it didn't touch ground. But Maria did,with the full force of a cat5 hurricane. Tuesday afternoon I was talking to a cousin, offering her shelter at our house, as hers was directly on the waterfront, Maria was then a cat1 storm. She said it's not too bad, stormy yes, but she didn't see the need to move. Luckily she did, Maria turned within 8 hours to a cat 5 and her house has gone.

She is not the only to have lost everything: Every village, every comunity and every family is effected.  People died, communities are cut off. Bridges, streets, buildings destroyed. At the moment they say, that about 70% -80% of buildings lost their roof or/and are damaged or destroyed completly.

Because of the collapsed infrastractures and the geological landscape of Dominica, it might take days /weeks (I hope NOT!!) until communities can be reached.

Dominica is not a wealthy island,  though it is rich in nature and blessed by it's people. And everybody who visited will approve. The fauna and flora is unique to caribbean, though it's badly damaged too, but nature will heals itself!
Though some help is on the way, we are not the only island that needs help. Dominica is one of the "smaller carribean islands", some people never even heard of it or mistake it with the Dominican Republic.

As lots of funding will probably go to the better known islands (I'm not judging, they need all the help they can get too!!!) , we might "miss out".

So I decided to do something about it. I won't be able to go to DA right now, as I broke a vertebrae 6 weeks ago. But I can organize, as my head is not effected :-)
At the same time I will try to get some sponsoring from companies for relevant goods and supplies.

As soon as I get the ok to travel, I will be there.
I just got a message that people started looting, as there is no food, no water, no gas, no electricity.
We need HELP NOW!

Mostly needed is: Tarpaulin, Generators, Non-perishable foods, Toiletries, First Aid Kits, Medicine,
Water, Gas, Blankets, Building/Roofing Materials, Clothes.
