Hurricane Flo I’Anson Gerak Rebuild

As many of you know we thought we had made it through Hurricane Florence as one of the fortunate ones, with no damage. We live in Snead’s Ferry NC and had a mandatory evacuation order given to us Tues Sept 11. Spending the next 10 days away from home in a cabin with friends. However on our return we discovered the roof had severe damage and had led to our apartment taking in water. With no power for  5 days coupled with 98% humidity our apartment now looks like the lab of Dr Alexander Fleming.  We have been told we can’t stay in our home while we have crazy amounts of damp and mould by FEMA. Insurance have told us they will only cover us for up to $2500 in mould damage. The top floor apartment has a tarp to protect us from more rain however this is not helping with the humidity. We are asking for donations for us to help with the storage and moving of the personal items that have survived. We appreciate a lot of people have had worse flooding, but at this point we would appreciate any help we could get. Love Bec and Joe I’Anson Gerak
