Hunter's Healing Journey

I never thought it would be my child. Not my son. Until that day...
No parent can ever imagine that their child will be the victim of a tragedy, until that fateful day arrives. One tragic evening in June, my son Hunter's life was changed forever. He was bit in the face by a Great Dane inside a local grocery store. The dog was allowed to enter store under the guise as a service animal, which turned out to be false. Hunter was rushed to the emergency room as the suspect and his dog fled the scene, leaving Hunter needing significant facial surgeries and full of fear. It has been a long road to recovery for our 6-year-old boy. Hunter suffers from constant aching in his face and sharp pain from the deep scar tissue that is preventing his growing skin from stretching. The pain has become unbearable for him and it hurts my heart to helplessly watch him have to go through this.

Hunter requires immediate surgeries that are necessary for his skin to properly grow and heal. The cost of these surgeries is over $15,000, and as his parents we will seek after this until we can provide our child with the care he needs and deserves. We have been asked by several people about the dog owner. All I can say is you can not teach responsibility, honor and integrity to a man who has no moral compass. We will not let our son suffer because of the actions of another, we will prevail. We are raising money to complete his final regenerative surgery and skin resurfacing. As his mother and father, our wish is to provide him the best chance to recover as he works to heal his physical and emotional wounds. As I look at his sweet face, all I can feel in my heart is the wish that it holds to restore him to as close to "normal" as possible, before this tradgedy occured in his young life.
