Preserving The Human/Animal Bond
Donation protected
"In the end we will conserve only what we love.
We will love only what we understand.
We will understand only what we are taught".
Baba Dioum Senagalese conservationist
Our fascination with animals benefits both species. People care about conserving what they love. In order to grow and nurture that love we need to have an understanding and knowledge of animals and nature. The opportunity to meet and touch animals as we learn about them serves to cement that relationship. Our project focuses on elephants but encompasses all species.
Our goal is to protect and preserve the human/animal bond through these avenues:
1. -To encourage legislation on a local, state and federal level that will give people the opportunity to have personal experiences with animals.
2. -To discourage and seek to repeal legislation that interferes with that goal by challenging bans that have removed the ability for humans to have interaction and close contact with wildlife.
3. -To fund projects that help researchers and conservationists as they work to make life healthier and safer for elephants and other animals in their home countries and in human care.
"Every day someone sees or perhaps touches an elephant and gains a greater understanding of the animal he or she has known only from picture books and video. Every day young and old alike marvel at an elephant’s strength and agility, its intelligence and personality, and its ability to make you gasp and laugh. Every day the work to save elephant habitat helps in conserving many other kinds of wildlife. The popular appeal of elephants is so great that attention and efforts garnered to save this flagship species benefits many endangered animals...”
