Hughesville High School Fly Fishing Club

The Hughesville High School Fly Fishing Club was created to help students develop the love of fly fishing and tying; while building a community that promotes curiosity, purpose, and giving back. One of the most effective means of introducing kids to the sport is fly tying. By establishing one of the finest fly tying rooms of any high school in Pennsylvania we will helping to develop and instruct the next generation of Pennsylvania fly tiers.

Having quality vises, tools, and accessories is essential for fly tying, but also having enough vises, tools, and accessories will help us meet the demands of our growing club. But even more so, the true reason for these funds is for the possibility of what fly fishing and tying can provide for our kids. Fly fishing is more than just a sport. Fly fishing is a life style and a process. It has a way of revealing to us our true nature while simultaneously providing endless opportunities to develop the skills we admire and to become the person we were meant to be.

The funds will be used to purchase 20 Regal Vises, 20 Dr. Slick Tyer Tool Sets, TCO assorted hooks, and other various fly tying materials. Our club has just over 20 members--it's important for all members to be actively engaged & learning. Idle time is not desirable for our members. Finally, we want to create an evening event called Community Ties. This would be a monthly event where community members are invited into our school for an evening of fly tying and mentoring with our club members. The sooner we can initiate Community Ties, the better it is for our community and our kids. Please consider our request.
