The 3rd  Annual Jamaican Health fair in Roses Valley was a huge blessing. We were able to serve 586 residents, who were low income and poor with preventive and medical treatment over the three day period. Your donations made it possible for us to provide:

Prostate screening
Pap smears
Physical Examinations
Blood Pressure Screening & gift of Blood pressure monitor
Diabetes Screening
HIV/AIDS Screening
Cholesterol Screening
Dental Examinations and Treatment
Screening for reading glasses & gift of glasses
Health Educations for major illnesses
CPR Training
Nutrition Counseling

The health care system in Jamaica is struggling trying to provide services to the population. There are two systems. The Private Health care system and the government health care system, which is used by the low income and poor. The Government system is stressed. It can take months to get an appointment to see a doctor and then take additional months to get the diagnostic test needed for adequate care. Preventive care is limited to non existent. In the country of Jamaica Coronary Artery Disease, Breast Cancer Stroke, Diabetes, Hypertension, HIV/AIDS, Lung Disease and Influenza & Pneumonia are among the top ten killers of the people.

Unity Fellowship Jamaica Ministries intends to make a difference in the lives of the low income, poor, underrepresented, and underserved people of Jamaica.

We have organized a Health Fair in the historic community of Roses Valley in St. Elizabeth Jamaica to
bring health screening and treatment, as well as, preventive health teaching to the people.

Please take a look at the services that will be offered at the 4th Annual Health Fair.

Health Screening for: Hypertension, HIV/AIDS, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, Vision, Colesterol, Colon Cancer, and Dental Carries.

Treatments for: Dental problems including cleaning, fillings and extractions.

Health Teaching for: Self-Breast Examination, General Nutrition, Diabetic Education, Hypertension Education, Stroke Prevention, HIV/AIDS Prevention, Risk Reduction for Pneumonia, Understanding COPD, Healthy Teeth & Gums.

ALL SERVICES ARE FREE TO THE PEOPLE

We have Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Dentist, Dental Technicians, Dental Hygienists, Counselors, Social Workers, and a wide variety of other volunteers from the USA and Jamaica to make this happen. It will be is done in a field next to the Roses Valley Primary School, St. Elizabeth Jamaica.

BUT, we need you. We need all of you to help us make this dream to help the Jamaican people a reality.

It doesn’t matter how small; it will help us pay for the thousands of dollars needed to make the Health Fair a success.

Let me give you an example of some of the items that cost. The mobile dental unit (large truck with 6 dental chairs) The mobile wellness truck, The mobil Cancer Society truck, Tents to cover the field, tables, chairs, water, food, electricity, dental supplies, medical supplies, digital blood pressure monitors (200 to give to the people to monitor their hypertension), diabetic testing monitors and strips (200 to give to the people to monitor their blood sugar), teaching supplies, PA system, transportation, etc. This is just the tip of the iceberg of cost. We are committed to make this happen and it will happen with your help.
