The Hughes Family

Many of you know Amy and Tim Hughes.  They have an awesome, kind and loving son Logan.  They have been trying for years to have another child.  Finally, their prayers were answered when Amy found out she was pregnant this January.  About mid way through her pregnancy, they received the news that their baby girl had Down Syndrome.   Many babies with Downs have heart problems that require surgery either immediately after birth or within the first year of the baby's life.  Amy went to countless doctor appointments, cardiologists, non stress tests weekly.   They received good news.  The cardiologist felt the babys heart was good.  In fact, he was optimistic that heart surgery would not even be a factor.  Amy was set to deliver Adelyn on December 15th.  Then, tragedy struck.  On Monday, Novemeber 17th, during her routine bi-weekly ultrasound, no heart beat was detected.  Adelyn's little heart stopped beating.  Amy had a c-section the next morning to deliver her angel.  There is no heartache greater than the loss of a child.   She and her family were able to spend precious hours with her sleeping angel.  After, they had to immediately start planning for her funeral rather than the rest of her life.  Amy is now back in the hospital with a rare condition called Peripartum Cardiomyopathy.  This is when the mothers heart muscles weaken during the last month of pregnancy to the first six months after birth.  She is expected to make a full recovery and be home to spend Thanksgiving with her family.  However, through all this, medical and funeral expenses have arisen that were not planned for.  I know this is a tough time of year for everyone, but it is the season of giving.  This family has been through so much in the past week and they really need time to grieve, rather than worry about how to pay for the funeral and medical expenses.  No amount is too small.  Anything would be appreciated by this precious family.  I thank you in advance and I know the Hughes family will be forever grateful.
