Dearest family, friends, M.I.T.T. alumni, strangers, et al.
I attended a five-day training/workshop in Los Angeles called Mastery in Transformational Training last week. The training/workshop itself far exceeded my expectations and delivered a life changing experience for myself on a profound personal level. I was blessed to share the journey with approximately 180 other attendees from all across the country. Beforehand, I would have deemed what we all accomplished impossible to achieve in 5 days.
The process entailed lectures, games, small and large group activities, guided meditations, music, and more that was extremely intense, emotionally charged and draining too, insanely intimate, divinely inspired, which in turn required long days and nights, not a lot of sleep due to Los Angeles traffic and distance traveled, and an emotional commitment that challenged, endorsed and provoked every belief system and so much more in me. It blew my mind and left me eager to learn more.
As some of you know, I have been my big sisters 24/7 home hospice caregiver for 22 months this month of October. It has been an extremely emotional situation for me personally and I am honoured and blessed to be of service to her as she has always been my biggest fan, best friend and I love her so much. I paid for the course I just took all by myself with the last of my savings because I needed to do something for myself. I took a leap of faith and enrolled because of encouragement to do so from Timbrel Pechan. The gamble, as I could have chosen to go to the beach or something like that to get a break, has been the best investment of my life. Unfortunately, I have no other funds to cover the complete cost of the advanced course starting next week for 5 days, but I committed nonetheless and put a deposit of $395.00 to attend the final Advanced Living Course with encouragement from my small group and our group leader, which brings me here per the suggestion of my group leader.
So, family, friends, M.I.T.T. alumni, strangers, et al please consider any contribution you are able to muster to facilitate this becoming a reality for me. The course is normally $1195.00, but with the deposit of $395.00 we were all given a $200.00 discount which amounts to a balance of $600.00 plus I need airfare. I have estimated the airfare to be higher than normal because of the quick turnaround dates to attend. I have support as far as housing and transportation covered by Timbrel & Louis Pechan. Parking is $15.00 a day for 5 days and I eat, but not a lot. My goal is to raise $1,100.00 which will cover me hopefully and I am grateful in advance for anything. One of the things I am known to say is “if you don’t ask you don’t get”, but I do respect your right and freedom to say no. I hope you say yes to Go, Shelley, Go!
Finally, decades ago, I was given this quote by a dear friend and it is apropos and priceless in its wisdom, so I’m sharing.
“Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.
I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets: Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”
