Flood: My people need you help

Hi all,

My name is Nixiwaka Yawanawa, I am a member of the Yawanawa tribe in  the west of the Amazon, state of Acre - Brazil.

I am currently livin in UK and working for the charity Survival International, the global movement for tribal peoples' rights.

Last year I went to visit my tribe and I was very happy to meet everyone. Last week I received a terrible news about a rain fallowed by a strong flood that left my people in  a state of emergency. The flood caused the destruction of houses and crops, loss of working materials, generators and many others personal uses.

I beleive that all this signs of natural catastrophe is because of the destruction of the rainforest and the climate change, is affecting many innocent people.

This campaign is in order to regain the loss and that we can then make a new start in our villgaes. Your help is very important at this difficult moment that my people face. Just to let you know, this campaign is not linked to my work at Survival International. It is totally personal, as a member of my Yawanawa family I feel very worried for what happened I and want to help them as I can.

Any amount of money is  important. So please do what you can. On behalf of my people and myself I thank you very much for your support.

Meu nome é Nixiwaka Yawanawa, eu sou um membro da tribo Yawanawa, no oeste da Amazônia, no estado do Acre - Brasil.

Estou vivendo atualmente no Reino Unido e trabalho para a organização Survival International, o movimento global para os direitos dos povos indígenas.

No ano passado fui visitar minha tribo e fiquei muito feliz em poder reencontra-los. Na semana passada recebi uma terrível notícia, uma forte chuva causou uma forte enchente que deixou o meu povo em estado de emergência. A inundação causou a destruição de casa, criação de animais,  perda de materiais de trabalho, geradores e muitos outros usos pessoais.

Eu acredito que todos esses sinais de catástrofe natural é por causa da destruição da floresta e as alterações climáticas, está afetando muitas pessoas inocentes.

Esta campanha têm como objetivo de recuperar a perda e que podemos então fazer um novo começo em nossas comunidades. Sua ajuda é muito importante neste momento difícil que o meu povo enfrenta. Para sua informação, esta campanha não está ligada ao meu trabalho na Survival International. É totalmente pessoal, como um membro da minha família Yawanawa Sinto-me muito preocupado com o que aconteceu e eu quero ajudá-los no que puder.
