Nala is our beautiful American Bully and an irreplaceable part of our family. She’s gentle, loyal and means the world to my fiancé. Recently, our Nala was diagnosed with a rapidly growing limbal melanocytic tumour on her left eye. The tumour has attached to her eyeball and is progressing quickly.

We’ve been told by specialists that if this tumour isn’t treated urgently, it will continue to invade her cornea and she may permanently lose her eye. The surgery required is extremely intricate and must be performed by a specialist ophthalmic veterinary surgeon. The cost for this procedure has been quoted at over $8,000, which is far beyond what we can manage on our own.

My fiancé is the kind of person who never asks for help. He is the first to show up for friends, family, and anyone in need. He works tirelessly and has poured every spare dollar into fixing up our home to make it safe and liveable for our baby girl, who is due soon. Like many families right now, we are doing our best in a climate where two incomes barely cover the basics — a mortgage, bills, car payments, and preparing for a newborn.

Asking for help doesn’t come easily to us, but time is not on our side. Nala needs this surgery as soon as possible to give her the best chance at keeping her eye and living a pain-free, happy life.
