Housing Security for Yo Yo and Zion

The goal of this fundraiser is to help Yo Yo and Zion, a couple from Crown Heights, pay off $7000 of back rent for their apartment on Prospect Place and Schenectady. This debt was accumulated during an extended, ongoing family medical crisis. Last December, Yo Yo (a Crown Heights resident of 50 years), whose neighbors are used to seeing on a daily basis cruising around on his beloved bicycle, was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Since then, his condition while undergoing chemo has made it difficult to leave the house and practice his music, which is his main hustle. Meanwhile, Zion, besides helping Yo Yo since his diagnosis, has been taking care of her mother who has been sick in the hospital and acting as home care for her grandmother, who passed away at the age of 100 just a few days ago. This beloved family is stretched thin right now and in need of direct community support during their financial and medical crisis. Our friends Zion and Yo Yo shouldn’t have to deal with this rent debt right now on top of everything else.
