HoH Alumnae Recovery Walk - 8/4/18

The primary purpose of the House of Hope Alumnae Group is to contribute to the growth and unity of both the members of the Alumnae Group and the women still in residential treatment at the House of Hope.  To that end, we coordinate outings and events with the women still in primary treatment to bridge the gap between residential treatment and the graduates of the program.  We strive always to create unity and to strengthen the bonds among Alumnae members and future graduates.  

We consider each and every one of these women to be a miracle.

Over the years, we have sponsored numerous events, including beach adventures, karaoke nights, and trips to amusement parks like Knott's Berry Farm and Soak City.  We also enjoy fellowshipping with each other and the primary women during game and movie nights.  Each December, the Alumnae group hosts a holiday party where we share a family meal, give gifts to each of the women in residential treatment, and dance the night away.  The Alumnae group also makes quarterly donations directly to the House of Hope.

To do all of this, though, we need your help!  The annual Walk for Recovery is our biggest fundraiser.  All of the funds raised go directly to the Alumnae fund to pay for these excursions, gifts, and donations.  The more money we raise, the more we can give back to the primary women.  The days and weeks in early sobriety can be very challenging, and it's sometimes difficult to see how life can be lived and enjoyed (especially social gatherings) without alcohol and drugs.   The women of the House of Hope Alumnae Group aim to show the women in residential treatment just how fulfilling  - and fun - a life in sobriety can be.

This year's walk will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.  We ask that everyone meet at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Shepard & Gaffey Streets in San Pedro in order to prepare for the walk  - map here https://goo.gl/maps/JKpUEcx8dc42.  There will be a raffle and you can buy raffle tickets prior to the walk.  The walk will be approximately 5 miles in the scenic Point Fermin area of San Pedro.
