House Fire Need a home 4yr old son

Donation protected

Our house caught fire due to oil on the stove. My mother in law was starting to make dinner while my wife, son and I were out to celebrate a birthday dinner for my mother. We got a call at 6pm on 3-18-18 from a fire chief stating our home was on fire and to get there. 50 minutes. Arrived. Wife rushed her mom to the ER. I stayed with fire and police at location. Unfortunately Nanny Janny suffered some burns on Right hand, fingers and right arm. As well, minor smoke inhalation. Thankfully, she is out of the hospital and stable.

We are now homeless. We have contacted so many outlets. The VA of West Palm beach since I am a disabled veteran. The RedCross who helped get us into a hotel room for two nights as immediate emergency response.  Also a large number of private organizations, non-profits and church groups attempting to get a roof over our heads to no avail. There is literally nowhere to go for immediate housing.

My son is the priority and we have been working very hard  to make a home base at least so he can sleep in a bed and get dropped off at school for the day.

The state of Florida has not responded as of yet, but we have been banging the phones and speaking to anyone we can to make the brunt of this situation sting less.

So far, the only assistance we’ve been able to get has been some of  the RedCross funds as well as donated toiletries, food donations and the GoFundMe participants. You guys have been more of a help than you know.  As long as we can get a roof over our 4 year old, we will be able to start picking up the pieces.

I ask for any and all help you could possibly give. Financially we are not wealthy people. I was injured in 2011 in support of operation enduring freedom in RCEAST Afghanistan. My small pension is not enough to get this situation fixed. We take care of my mother in law because father in law must go out of state and sometimes out of country for work. My wife works as much as she can and we support each other the best way we know how. I am asking for help to get us out of this horrible situation so we can start fixing our life.

Our little boy Grayson is the most important thing in the world to all of us and I want him to be able to sleep soundly. I don’t care about anything else.

Things can be replaced, luckily we are all alive, Nanny Janny wasn’t severely burned, and we are trying so very hard to find a roof to live under. We are thankful that we can all still be with each other, even though we don’t have a place to be.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I hope that if you are in a position to help us, you will. We understand if you can’t give much. I tend to only donate $5 at a time to Red Cross, Save The Children, and the Army Emergency Relief Fund. And it’s only a few times a year. Unfortunately I won’t be able to help others for a while now. The role has basically been reversed and I am ashamed of this.

Coming from a stable home and a good upbringing, I am so very grateful I never had to deal with something like this as a child. But, now that our child is, and we are trying to hide as much from his sensories as possible. Please help us keep him an innocent little boy.

We have no renter’s insurance. It was a major oversight on our part. For four adults to not have that we feel so embarrassed. We are renters, 4 adults and a child. We have 2 vehicles. Major loss of everything. Please help.
