There are moments in life when you ask yourself what it is that drives you and if you stop and quiet your mind from the constant clamour we live in, the answer rings through loud and clear through your consciousness and you know that your mission is to be of help to others.
Some years ago I went to India on a business trip and then I decided to stay on some extra days and explore it not only as a tourist, but also with another lens. Since then I’ve always had the desire to open a hospital in India.
During one of my conversations with a very dear Indian friend who is originally from Bihar, I told him my dream and it turned out that he had exactly the same aspiration – the defining factor being the death of his brother, who passed away at the age of 17 due to the lack of appropriate medical care. United by our common passion and purpose, we asked ourselves: why don’t we join forces and make our mutual dream come true? We agreed that Masroor would focus on the legal and operational management of the endeavour, and I would focus on secu
ring the necessary funding.
In honour of his late brother, we would name the hospital Manzoor.
Should we ever get to the place of opening a second hospital (one must never stop dreaming !) we would name it after my late brother, Marco, who had Down syndrome.
I write today to ask for your support in making our dream a reality. We have been working for the past nine months to prepare a business and operational plan to build a hospital in Araria (Bihar) and we are ready to hit the ground running, thanks to my friend’s local connection and our joint expertise.
We ask for your help and support, however small, in order to provide a better future and a chance for survival for some of the most impoverished citizens of Araria.
