Hospital copay for Marcus

Donation protected
On May 4th, my cousin Marcus was fishing and reading on the banks of a river near his home in Raleigh, NC. Two children were swimming in the river and got caught in an eddy. They started to struggle to stay above water and their mothers began screaming for help as the situation became desperate. He and another bystander immediately went into the water, disregarding their own safety to the rescue the kids. Marcus was able to get the little girl to shore and went back to help the other bystander with the little boy, although at this point he had already swallowed and inhaled some water. People on shore had thrown floating noodles and Marcus ensured the other rescuer and boy were safely on those before helping them out of the eddy to safety only to be caught himself. He was extremely fatigued at this point and started to go under but luckily people on the beach had formed a human chain and pulled him to shore. He was going in and out consciousness and clearly suffering from hypoxia after nearly drowning. He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and was admitted after blood test had shown he was suffering from acute renal failure. As of this morning (May 6th) he is still in the hospital awaiting blood tests to assess whether his kidneys have started carrying their load again. Marcus is in high spirits and excited to get home. This is pretty much text book heroism. Anyone who knows Marcus well shouldn’t be surprised by this selfless act. It’s just the kind of person he is. If you feel so inclined please consider helping out our hero Marcus with covering the costs of his hospital copay and ambulance ride. Or if you prefer, consider buying him a beer and contributing towards advanced swim lessons. Thanks!
