Hospital bills from severe dog attack!!

My name is Amanda and I have a little terrier type dog named Ted. Our 2 small dogs were outside on Saturday night and and a loose pitbulll came out of nowhere and attacked them and got ahold of Ted . I could not get the dog off of my dog in my yard and the larger dog almost tore off his back leg. I tried tried to fight the dog off of him and was unsuccessful and got my finger bit in the process. The police came and we did not know this dog and He Finally took the dog from me and while waiting and trying to help My dog he lost the mean dog and never seemed concerned on finding him.. We took Ted to Gainesville to the emergency vet and so far hes been there ever since we still do not know if his leg will be amputated, he lost a lot of blood And he has a lot of broken bones I have already given them almost $4000 and I need help. I hate asking for help but I don't know what else to do. Ted has been with me through a lot and I need him in my life he is my babyPlease help me so they can fix him. We have spoken to the owner, we have spoken to animal control, and we have been in contact with the police and nobody seems to be concerned or care at all I don't know what to do anymore.
