Horton Family Mold Crisis

The Horton Family is a homeschooling family of 5 from Alabama. Buckie, the man of the house, works 2 jobs and goes to school full time. Melissa raises their 3 children and provides all their schooling needs. They began noticing what seemed like mold in their rental home. Thinking it was simple mildew, the mom began trying to clean things. It all spiraled from that point. It was found that there was mold all throughout the house. Everything in the home is having to be replaced down to the studs. Eighteen different types of mold were found to be in their home. The homeowner is doing all they can to help this family get through this difficult time. Unfortunately, neither the owner's homeowner's policy or the Horton's rental policy cover anything related to mold damage. The Hortons are being forced to replace many items that can not be moved. Mattresses, living room furniture, appliances, homeschool books etc... I probably couldn't even list every item here. Between having to replace all the basic everyday items, the family is also having to come up with money for deposits and moving expenses. This is a huge undertaking for sure. Since Buckie works two jobs and also goes to school, the majority of the cleanup, packing, and finding a new home is falling on Melissa. This GoFundMe is an attempt to help ease this burden. Once all is said and done, this family will likely end up spending close to $12,000 for everything related to this disaster. This amount includes deposits for a new home, moving expenses, expenses for remediating their belongings that can be kept, replacing homeschooling supplies, and much more that we all could just not imagine. Not only does the family need to replace their belongings and move to a new home, but they also need to undergo medical testing due to this mold exposure. These costs are around $1,000 per person. This does not include any type of treatment for mold toxicity. As you can see, the costs for this family are great and they need to relocate immediately.
