Hope for Poznaks

Donation protected
In an effort to help Poznaks we set up this GoFundMe fundraiser thru Natty's FB account last summer. We truly appreciate all that have already given so generously! Just last week the Poznaks family decided to implement hospice. This has been a difficult decision to consider, but it is time to add this layer of care and bring an added level of comfort to Jason's bedside. Additional private care is also being implemented at this time, which is quite costly, so we've increased our goal in fundraising.

Nearly two year's ago Jason was diagnosed with a rare type of brain cancer called Anaplastic Ependymoma (a tumor found in only 2% of children). On June 21, 2012 he had a successful surgery to remove the tumor & was sent home after only 3 days to recover. The next few weeks were spent getting stronger and having fun with a media blitz airing his WipeOut taping for National Laughs! Then one month after brain surgery things took an unforeseen turn. Severe nausea & headaches sent him back to the hospital on July 21. The days that followed resulted in Jason spending nearly six weeks in ICU, fighting for his life. He had meningitis. After forty days in the hospital he was finally sent home, but the fight was far from over.

Later that fall he began therapies, radiation and other treatments with hopes that he would be stronger by the new year. But the months that followed proved equally difficult and in May 2013 doctors explained that in addition to the tumor, Jason also had Arachnoiditis, a neuropathic disease caused by inflammation of the arachnoid, one of the membranes that surround and protect the nerves of the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. This is a chronic disorder, with no known cure. The inflammation caused by this disease leaves Jason with many painful and debilitating symptoms still to date.

Then nearing his one year anniversary of no new cancer, June 2103 a new tumor was found. He had radiation sterostatic 'zap'. Three more seasons have passed and Jason remains mostly bed-ridden due primarily to the severe symptoms of the arachnoiditis and the measures needed to manage that intense pain and nausea. He had hoped to have a neurostimulator implanted last month to possibly curb the pain and find some relief. This had to be put on hold as he was in the hospital on two separate occassions fighting thru life-threatening infections. It was also during this time the latest MRI was taken.

In March, Jason's latest MRI images showed the cancer is progressing & traveling. Jason is now preparing for another round of radiation, which will be given over a five-day period with the stereostatic 'zap.' You can see, the battle for Jason and his family has been long and demanding. We appreciate your continued prayer. And if you'd like to help meet a tangible need, please give at this website. Please know that every dollar shared is a gift deeply appreciated & humbly accepted by Jason & Natty!  Blessings to All- Melinda
