Hope and Healing for the McArthur Family

*Sam is unable to raise money for someone out of the country, as she's in the US. I'm so incredibly grateful she offered to raise money for us. Thank you, Sam! -Nikki

Let me tell you about my friend Nikki. She is a fierce warrior with a heart of gold, whose life has not been easy. Her husband, Doug, is her rock and right now, they both need our help.

Nikki and I met on Instagram in August 2020 and unfortunately bonded over our shared diagnosis of endometrial cancer. This terrible disease brought me a wonderful friend, and I am doing everything I can to support Nikki and Doug in their time of need.

Doug and Nikki have been through so much heartache the past four years. As they were trying to start their family in 2017, Nikki was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. She was able to try fertility sparing treatment with high dose hormones, and managed to clear up the cancer—twice! They were able to do IVF and froze four embryos. However, after two failed embryo transfers, the cancer came back.

This time the treatment isn't working, and on September 22nd, Nikki will be having a hysterectomy.

Nikki and Doug have fought like hell to avoid surgery and they have sacrificed so much for the chance to grow their family—only to end up here. Some financial hurdles they have faced over the last four years include IVF, which is expensive and has resulted in a lot of debt. Also, because of her intense cancer treatment, Nikki has been on disability, leaving Doug to support their household on limited income. The financial strain is taking its toll and we need to show them they are not alone!

They still have two frozen embryos left, but surrogacy is out of reach ($60K to $80K). They are absolutely heartbroken that their journey is ending this way.

I want to show them that there is a community out there that is ready to rally around them to help lighten their load. Nikki has been a great friend to many, sharing her knowledge and love, and now it is our turn to help her.

Surrogacy may not be an option at this time, but let's help lessen their financial burden so they can begin to enjoy life again as they close this painful chapter. Healing will take time, both physically and emotionally, but the burden of debt will make this process much more difficult. Any amount will be greatly appreciated as we rally together to help Nikki and Doug find hope and healing in their beautiful life together, on this new path forward.
