Hope, Health and a Home for JUNO

Hi....my name is Juno Grace.  (I just recently got that name.)  On Monday, March 19th, I was found on the side of the road out in the country.  It appears that I was just abandoned, as a huge social media campaign to find my owner has had no success at all.

This is my story for the last week of my life and what I am faced with in the near future.  I appear to be a blue pit bull mix and I have an incredibly sweet and loving demeanor.  There are two ladies and one young man out in the area where I was found who have been trying to help me now for a week.  It was discovered quickly after I was found that I cannot use my back legs.  They worked together to get me to K-9 compassion in Corpus for an evaluation.  This resulted in renting me a wheelchair for a week.  These people have been making sure I have food and water, a dry, safe place to live, daily exercise in my wheelchair and several treats and daily doses of love and affection.

They are searching for a rescue group or a forever home for me on a daily basis, but in the meantime, I still have many needs that unfortunately are costly.  There is just no way for them to pay for all of what I need on their own and several of you have said you would be willing to help.  We thought this would be the best way to go about doing that.

Here is some of what I need done.  It is already pretty obvious that I am going to need my wheelchair rented for another week or two.  The cost to do this is $40 a week.  The lady at the rehab place stated that she feels I need a visit to a vet with something called x-rays.  Most vets that
have been contacted are saying that it will cost around $200-$300 for that visit.....which will include an office fee, an exam, x-rays and some shots and medication.  Almost everyone says that I need an MRI....but that is something that my "foster" owners just are not sure can be accomplished at this point, as the cost for that is anywhere from $1,500 to $3000.  There are daily attempts to find low-cost vet services for strays.  Believe me - they are working on it, one problem is that I am currently in a rural area about 75 miles away from the city so getting to a vet in the city is also an issue as my fosters work.   There is also a chance I could benefit from some in-house rehab but that is about $600 a week.  My owners thought maybe after the vet visit, at least one week of rehab could be tried to see if I show improvement.   I really enjoy getting out and running in my wheelchair..... and it seems pretty obvious that I am going to need it for awhile, maybe forever.  Most of what we have been told is that the specific chair and the other hardware that comes with it to help me ...... will be about $500.  The biggest priorities right now are to get me to a vet to get me completely checked out and get me a wheelchair.

There are prayers and a search everyday to find me a perfect forever home.....and I would love to be adopted, but just know that I come with a little baggage.  I need lots of attention and lots of love, but believe me, I give back lots of love too.  I am just a super sweet girl.  If you are someone who has time, love and a little extra money to devote to a sweet dog, I would love to be considered to be a part of your family.  If not, in the meantime, please consider donating to my care by these foster people.

With luck, I might walk again.  Either way, I can make someone a wonderful pet.  I have lots of determination and have also taught the people who rescued me some life lessons.  God doesn't make trash.  It has been suggested by some that I should be "put down" and please know that if I was in any pain that is what my fosters would have humanely done.  As of today, never have I whimpered in pain one time.  I've just licked and played.  Any little donation you could make in my behalf to help the people who are caring for me would be more appreciated than you could ever imagine.  I just want a chance and honestly I am probably a "life lesson" for more than one person around.  Thanks for listening....... if you could donate for my care .... you have my fosters' word that every last cent will be spent on me ... and I will be more grateful than you will ever know!

Thanks ....... JUNO
