Hope for Tyler and Miranda

The beginning...

This is the story of my niece Miranda and her son Tyler. Together they have faced a great deal of adversity over the years. Recently, a new and alarming challenge was added to their path.

MS and Life in a Wheelchair
Prior to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 16 years ago, Miranda had a career as a hard working and dedicated carpenter. Since that diagnosis she has faced the ravages of this disease. Pain, loss of vision, and in 2018 she became paralyzed from the chest down. As is her nature, she put her faith in God and with intense therapies for 6 months, she regained the use of her legs.

A Career ended
Unfortunately, she has also dealt with many other complications regarding her health. After her MS diagnosis, a blood clot in her right arm brought her career as a carpenter to an end. Her financial struggles as a divorced mom began. After surgery for the blood clot, the devastating news came. Based on family history and Miranda's exams, her doctor prescribed a double mastectomy. Unfortunately, after this emotional and difficult surgery, infection set in and further serious complications occurred. Miranda had 13 surgeries in 16 months.

Tyler is an Only Child
Of course, as a mother, all of these challenges pale in comparison to the current crisis in Miranda's life. Miranda's son Tyler has been diagnosed with cancer. Tyler is just 15 years old and in the short time between July 2020 and now he has gone from a healthy active teen ager to dealing with a tumor on his spine.  This led to paralysis, now it was Tyler that couldn't walk. Surgery to remove most of the tumor in order to restore use of his legs was performed. Tyler has now begun treatment with chemotherapy.

How You Can Help
Losing her career due to MS, a blood clot, subsequent 13 surgeries, and paralysis has created an incredible financial hardship for Miranda. Miranda and Tyler live a long distance from the metro area hospital where Tyler receives treatment. There are also many appointments outside of chemotherapy that require travel. Having a reliable vehicle, gas, and money for meals while traveling over 100 miles roundtrip has been an incredible expense for Miranda. Your donation will alleviate the costs associated with travel for Tyler's care.
