Nuestra mamá es una luz en la vida de muchos, tiene chispa, alegría y siempre está llena de amor. Posee un corazón bondadoso y siempre contagia sonrisas a cualquiera que la rodea. Sabemos que con ESPERANZA así seguirá, pero debemos apoyarla para salir del cáncer que está viviendo ya que, más que verlo como un enemigo, nos ha enseñado a verlo con un propósito especial de vida.
Our mom is a shinning light in many people’s life, she is full of joy, happiness and love, she is kind, generous and she makes everyone around her smile. We know that with HOPE she will continue that way, but we need to help her to keep fighting that cancer she’s been living with, even though it is an enemy, it has taught us to see it as a special purpose of life.
En el 2016 es diagnosticada con cáncer de cuello uterino en etapa 3B, recibió 33 radiaciones, 4 braquiterapias y 5 quimioterapias (suaves), y para nuestra alegría a los 3 meses de tratamiento el cáncer se había ido y mi mama regresó a la vida.
In 2016 she was diagnosed with stage 3B cervical cancer, she received 33 radiotherapies, 4 brachytherapies, and 6 chemotherapies. To our delight the cancer was in remission and she returned to us full of life.
En el 2018 en un scan de control se ven ganglios inflamados de la zona pélvica, por lo que tuvimos que iniciar una ronda de 6 quimioterapias fuertes.
In 2018 in a subsequent follow up scan doctors found active lymphatic nodes in the pelvic zone, so we had to start 6 rounds of aggressive chemotherapy.
En el 2019 la operaron de emergencia porque las radiaciones habían atrofiado sus ureters, por lo que le hicieron una nefrostomía y un cateter doble J (los cuales se deben cambiar cada 3 meses). Mientras tanto, el cáncer se volvió a activar e iniciamos una nueva ronda de quimioterapias e incorporaron AVASTIN, uno de los medicamentos más caros en el mundo (este no lo cubría el seguro, por lo que se lo dieron en el Instituto guatemalteco de seguridad social de forma gratuita).
In 2019 she had to go through an emergency surgery because the radiotheraty atrophied her ureters, so she underwent nephrostomy and double J catheter placement (which have to be changed every 3 months). Meanwhile we started a new round of chemotherapies because the cancer was spreading again subsequently the doctors incorporated AVASTIN, one of the most expensive medications in the world (this medication wasn't covered by the insurance company so we went to the Guatemalan social security institute and they provided it free of charge).
En enero del 2020 tuvimos que hospitalizarla de emergencia, ya que el cáncer nuevamentes se activó provocandole una fístula rectovaginal, por lo que le hicieron 4 operaciones en 3 semanas para poderle dejar una colostomía teniendo complicaciones severas en las primeras 3.
In January 2020 she was hospitalized again because the cancer spread, thereby causing a rectovaginal fistula which lead us to 4 surgeries in 3 weeks to achieve a colostomy (3 of the 4 surgeries had complications)
Ahora se nos ha puesto una LUZ en el camino llamada INMUNOTERAPIA, un nuevo tratamiento para combatir el cáncer que provoca menos efectos secundarios y ha probado ser muy efectivo, pero con todos los procedimientos médicos anteriores nos hemos acabado su seguro médico, y el Instituto de seguridad social no provee este tratamiento, por lo que, nuevamente más llenos de esperanza que nunca, estamos listos para iniciar su terapia de SANACIÓN, pero necesitamos de tus donaciones y apoyo para poder cubrir los gastos, pues cada sesión de inmunoterapia cuesta alrededor de $15 mil, y debe de aplicarsele cada 21 días. Lo más preocupantes es que no podemos seguir aplazando el inicio del tratamiento, ya que el cáncer sigue avanzando y debemos seguir luchando.
Now we see a LIGHT at the end of the tunnel, called IMMUNOTHERAPY, a newer type of treatment to fight against cancer that has less side effects and has proven to be very effective, but all the past procedures depleted our insurance and the Guatemalan social security institute doesn’t provide this medication. So now our hearts full of hope, we are eager to begin this new treatment but we need your donation and support to cover the expenses because it costs around 15,000 dollars each and it’s needed 1 every 21 days. We are worried as we must not delay the beginning of the treatment because everyday cancer is spreading, and we have to keep fighting.
Somos 2 hijas de una maravillosa madre de 48 años que siempre dice que amó ser una mamá joven, porque le ha permitido gozarnos cada instante y en todas las etapas. Actualmente tiene una nieta de 8 meses que sin dudas, es el motor que la impulsa a seguir luchando.
We are 2 daughters of a 48 year old wonderful woman that has always said how much she loved to be a young mom because it allowed her to enjoy everyday and every step of our lives. Currently she has an 8 month old granddaughter and without a doubt she is the force that keeps her fighting everyday!
