Hi. This beautiful woman is my mother. I call her Mom, but most call her Maggie.
About 10 years ago, she was diagnosed with auto-immune disease. In a nut shell, her immune system is attacking and shutting down her liver and kidneys. Little by little, this disease is stealing our home, our best friend, and guardian angel.
Currently, she is hospitalized and was accepted as a candidate for a transplant, however, and at the last minute, her insurance denied her the procedure and any care pre/post operation. This has left us equally shocked, saddened, and trying to explore our options.
I have done some research and tried contacting facilities to understand the costs associated with the procedure, but have been turned away due to costs being beyond what an average person can afford without insurance ($500k- $600k).
My mother has a strong faith in God and human kindness, as do we, her children. She has two grandchildren she devotes herself to and one on the way she prays to meet. Please join her on this journey toward recovery. Any and all size donations are a blessing and greatly appreciated. This would help cover medical expenses tied to the procedure as well as with costs of supportive care.
