HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF THIS WERE YOU?
“Last summer I was planning my son’s funeral. He was alive, but I knew not for long. I would lay in bed night after night and wonder if this was the night I would get that dreadful call, or will it be by doorbell. I had my car keys by the door and kept my cell phone charged. How will I survive the pain, the guilt? What kind of funeral do you have, what photos do you display, what soothing music to play?”
Those are the words of Ann Marie, the mom of Chad, a patient who was physically very sick, exhausted, depressed, addicted, hopeless and suicidal when he first came to the Jerome Golden Center for help in September 2017.
HOW DOES THIS STORY END?
In Chad’s own words, "I am extremely grateful for the Jerome Golden Center. It was very rough dealing with depression and addiction most of my adult life. They were there for me when I had nowhere else to go and accepted me without having insurance or any financial contribution. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be alive today or celebrating eight months clean on July 3rd.”
BUT THIS LIVE-SAVING PROGRAM NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT
The Jerome Golden Center treats BOTH addiction and mental health disorders simultaneously and is the only co-occurring disorders residential treatment program for the underserved in Palm Beach County. Consistent with our mission, we help clients build resiliency, facilitate recovery and achieve reintegration into the community. We never turn anyone away. In fact, over 80% of our 9,000+ clients make $11,000 a year or less. That makes it challenging for us to fund this program to provide services for these vulnerable members of our community.
And it's why your donation is needed and so very important.
