Hoops for Hope - Kenya

Hi everyone! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Krista.

Basketball has always been a big part of my life. It’s what I did growing up. It’s how I chose what college to attend. It’s what I love to watch and analyze. Something so simple as a round ball and a hoop has made a big difference in my life. And thankfully, there’s an organization in Waco that uses a ball and a hoop to make a big difference in the lives of others as well.

This summer will be my fourth Hoops for Hope trip. I’ve been to Madrid, Spain in 2018, Puerto Morelos, Mexico in 2019 and Charlotte, North Carolina in 2021. This summer, I’m heading to Kenya.

We’ll spend a whole week in Kenya teaching basketball skills with a message of hope. There’ll be shooting drills, dribbling through cones, agility ladders and passing stations to name a few of the fundamentals we’ll cover with the kids there. We’ll teach them how to rebound and give them a few chances to be the last second hero. But we’ll also get to share hope with them.

Each one of my past trips has been special in its own way, and I can’t wait to see what happens in Kenya.

The trip is in early July. Along with your prayers for safe travels and successful basketball camps there, I also want to ask for a donation. It doesn’t matter how much as anything will help. My goal is $3,200, which covers the total cost of the trip. However, if the donations end up exceeding my goal, I will send the rest to Hoops for Hope as there are several other trips going out this summer.
