Honour our Guinness by Supporting Homeless Dogs in Ireland
Through the heartache and pain of losing our best friend and family member, Guinness Dunn, I am asking you to join us in honouring Guinness’s memory by supporting Mutts Anonymous Dog Rescue & Adoption (MADRA). MADRA has been rescuing and rehoming dogs in the West of Ireland since 2005. Through a great team of volunteers and foster families, MADRA has been able to drastically reduce the euthanasia rate in the area.
Guinness was and always will be the most loving and caring dog a person could ask for. Guinness was born in Connemara, Ireland, on January 1, 2005, and has been with us every day, making our family whole for 15 ½ years. Guinness joined us in volunteering to walk the MADRA dogs, providing them with a happy face and reprieve from their kennels. He also played a part in rescuing numerous dogs in the West of Ireland. Many abandoned and stray dogs found their way to MADRA and ultimately a loving forever home due to Guinness’s kindness and caring.
In March 2020, MADRA was asked to assist with a hoarding case, where 34 dogs were being kept in terrible and isolating conditions. The 34 dogs were named the Cróga Family (meaning courageous in Irish). The day was very difficult and the MADRA team spent hours ferrying these dogs from the only home they had known to a strange but safe environment. Their team based themselves at the shelter, vaccinating, worming and microchipping the group of bewildered dogs as they arrived. They are all Collie-type dogs and all of them are struggling to cope with their change in circumstance; they have a long road ahead of them. As with every rescue, MADRA relies heavily on donations from the general public, with running costs of over €400,000 per annum.
Although Guinness has passed, we want to continue his legacy of helping dogs in need. Please join us in honouring Guinness by donating to MADRA and supporting the great work that they do.
