Honoring Mike Stevenson's Passing.

Our dear friend, neighbor, and member of the community, Elyse and her 7-year old daughter lost her husband and Elyana’s dad due to complications from Covid-19 on Wednesday morning, February 16th, 2022.  His passing came as a complete shock and has devastated his family, friends and the community for which he served.  Mike touched the lives of many through his caring, mentoring and visionary nature to connect people and improve the community.  Mike co-founded and served on the board of a major Los Angeles charity for the homeless, was an elder at his church, and extensively involved with the Scouts including having served on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, District Chair, Scout Master, Den Leader, Merit Badge Counselor, Unit Commissioner and was inducted into the Order of the Beaver, the highest honor in scouting, for his leadership both locally and in national scouting.  Mike was also a brother Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

 

In addition, Mike was an involved father and sole breadwinner for his family.  Due to series of unfortunate circumstances, there was no life insurance policy in place.  Many have asked how to help.  Mike gave so much to the community over the years and now is the opportunity for the community to give back to Mike’s widow and daughter.  Prayers, good thoughts, and financial support are greatly appreciated during this most challenging time.  While food helps, financial gifts are the most beneficial to navigate the difficulties that lie ahead.  There will be numerous expenses in the upcoming weeks and months that include a variety of things such as the funeral, housing, and living expenses, childcare, education, after school programs, food and transportation that will now fall on Elyse as a recently widowed mother and graduate student.  We thank you in advance for your support and offer much gratitude and appreciation on behalf of Elyse, Elyana, and of all those who care about them.  Donations will be given directly to the Lauren-Stevenson family.
