Honoring Jay: Help Kaelyn Chase Her Dream

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jason Alexander Houck ("Jay"), who left us too soon on May 26, 2025, at age 46 in Raleigh, NC.

Born in Texas and raised in Raleigh, Jay had a lifelong love of cars, getting his start as a kid wrenching on engines and diving into books about auto mechanics at the library. He was a true talent and lived his passion every day.

Jay will be remembered for his kind, loving heart and his fun-loving spirit. He brought joy, laughter, and help wherever he went.

He is survived by his parents, Deborah Carlyle and Timothy Houck; his siblings, James Houck and Jennifer Hoffman; and his beloved daughters, Kaelyn Houck and Hayden Norris. He was endlessly proud of them.

Kaelyn, 19, who’s working her way through college with dreams of joining NASCAR—dreams Jay cheered on every step of the way.

A memorial service will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted to support Kaelyn’s journey in honor of her dad.

Rest easy, Jay. You were one of a kind.
