Honoring Eben Hammond - Funeral and Expenses
Hello. I am Matt Sconce, Eben's godfather. I am starting this Go Fund Me campaign to help his family with funeral costs and other expenses. Damian Reed, the husband of Eben’s sister, Channa Hammond, will be managing the funds and it will be used for funeral expenses and other expenses that arise.
Eben Hammond was killed by a hit and run driver the night of July 7th in Oakhurst, California. He was 20 years old. He would have been 21 in November. This was an unimaginable tragedy for his family and all of us. Those are the facts of what happened but cannot paint the whole picture.
Let me try. Who was Eben? Read on and I will tell you.
Eben was brilliant, excelling at anything he set his mind to. One day he told me he wanted to play the guitar and before I knew it, he was a masterful classical guitarist. He told me he wanted to sing and act and, the next thing I knew, he was getting leading roles at the Golden Chain theater and singing songs on stage from the broadway show, Hamilton. I knew him since he was a small child and you know what? He was always this way. Eben truly lived each day to the fullest but... he LOVED more.
Eben loved everyone. It was unconditional, deep, real love. He was a listening ear to many and a shoulder they could cry on. He was the friendly smile you needed, and the hug you were missing. Eben was also the laughter your heart needed after a horrible day. When he was around, things were just better. Eben was an amazing godson, brother, friend, son, grandson, and so much more.
Eben was what I aspire to be like. Eben was my hero.
As we donate to this Go Fund Me to raise money to help the family during this dark time, remember that we are not just grieving in the shadows but that we are honoring a soul who will forever shine brightly in so many hearts and was one of the greatest human beings I have ever or will ever know....
