Honoring Cari Phipps Through Education

As you may know we lost our beloved friend Cari Phipps to cancer at the age of 40 on February 1st 2021. She fought a fierce battle for many years.
Through the pain and challenges Cari managed to accomplish many of her life goals. One of her dreams was earning her MBA which did did in December 2019. She did this all while fighting cancer, working full time at Chico State, loving her husband Vince and daughter Emmi (age 8) and enjoying valuable time she spent with her parents, grandparents, extended family and countless friends.
Education was always a priority for Cari. She had been on the path of becoming an elementary school teacher when an opportunity to work in higher education presented itself which she embraced.
Cari recently expressed how important it is to her that her daughter Emmi is able to pursue her educational dreams like her Mama! Through life’s ups and downs such as marrying Vince and the birth of Emmi she also faced challenges when losing her home in the Paradise Camp Fire as well as her declining health, but through it all she continued to be optimistic.
In honor of Cari’s legacy our goal is to establish a college savings account for Emmi to allow her the opportunity that Cari wished for.
Cari will always be remembered for being the first to lend a helping hand when needed, her bright smile and laugh, and the love she had for all the people in her life. She will be deeply missed.
Thank you all for your continued support. Cari had many strong connections to so many people. I was lucky enough to meet her though Vince when they first started dating. One of my favorite memories was being there when Emmi was born. What a magical experience that was.
