Honor Bill Decker's Memory with a Plaque in Fort Greene Park

Our beloved friend Bill Decker passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a deep absence for those who knew and loved him. To honor his memory, we’re raising funds for a commemorative plaque in Fort Greene Park — a place Bill cherished. It was where he walked with his wife Eurydice, spent time with friends, and shared joyful mornings with his beloved dogs, Riley and Winifred.

If you were lucky enough to cross paths with them, you might’ve heard Bill’s unmistakable bellow — “Riley, leave it!” — echoing through the trees, part command, part affection, always full of heart.

Bill was a protector — in every sense of the word. He served with distinction in the New York City Police Department, and he brought that same devotion and integrity to his care for his family, his friends, and his Fort Greene/Clinton Hill community.

The funds will go directly to the Fort Greene Park Conservancy, which will help us create a lasting tribute to Bill in the park he called home.

Whether you knew Bill personally or are simply moved by this tribute, thank you for helping us celebrate a life marked by service, loyalty, and love.
