Homeless Senior Citizen Needs Our Help

Donation protected
Hello all. You may have seen this post about an elderly citizen of Coos Bay who was living in a homeless camp earlier today. Her name is Georgette and she needs some help to get back on her feet. Below is her story coming from HER directly (she is staying with us now). All money raised will go to getting her bedroom items, groceries, and she does need some medical care.

On 08/05/2020 a post was posted on a Coos Bay community site by a concerned member (see the image for the campaign). It showed an elderly woman in a wheelchair at a homeless camp and listed the location. A concerned member of the community page went to the homeless camp to find her in which they told her she was at the Devereux Center. The community member then went to the center to find her. The community member met with Georgette and Georgette and the community member decided that Georgette would go to the community member's house for a temporary situation instead of going back to the homeless camp. Georgette is in good spirits and has had a shower and a warm meal and is looking forward to watching Big Brother tonight with the family.

However, she does need a long term solution. Another community member has found her a home that she can go to. The original community member and Georgette will go to the new house tomorrow to check it out to make sure it is suitable for her.  Georgette will needs some items (bed, dresser, clothes, groceries) etc to get a long-term living situation secured. All the money raised will go to Georgette to get those things for herself.

Georgette let us know that she was scammed out of her Social Security money and that her husband has passed away and she has no family. She is originally from California and moved here by choice. She had an apartment in Coos Bay and after the scam, the bank closed her account and she does not know where her SSI is going. We are committed to:
1. Helping Georgette figure out her SSI income situation
2. Ensuring that the home tomorrow is suitable for her. She needs care right now as she cannot move her arms.

But we are asking for the community to help with getting her some basic essential items she needs and some groceries for her new house. Anything you can give is welcomed. We are not looking for physical donations because she does not have the place to store them currently.
