Homeland Trip for Laura-Marie and Ming

Ming and I are on a trip to my homeland in California. It’s a big deal emotionally because it’s my first time returning to the coast since my mom died almost two years ago.

I’m here in California to visit the place where my parents’ ashes are scattered, say prayers, sing songs, and see the ocean. Also I’ll visit one of my nieces and an aunt, who’s the sister my mom was closest to. Ming is seeing his two kids (they’re young adults), mom, dad, and sister. All of these relatives he hasn’t seen in years.

Ming and I are both disabled, and my income is below the poverty line. Ming is driving us, and we’re staying in three airbnbs and two hotels as we journey, these two weeks, as pandemic-safely as we can. We can’t afford it–I already spent $1350 I don’t have using credit cards, and estimate another $800 on gas, food, and other travel expenses.

This gofundme is a way I’m inviting friends to help support this trip. Just if you would like to chip in and be part of the healing. I know many of my friends have not enough money for themselves. But maybe some of you do have money, or would enjoy adding just a few dollars. I’m always looking for new ways to ask for help and do community.
