Home security for dad

hello all,  my name is Carly parker and I am the daughter of quite an amazing man, Joseph Simonet. Many of you know him as Sifu Joseph, 10th degree black belt of many martial arts, the past co-owner of KI fighting concepts, the intellectual, the strong willed, passionate teacher for which many people have learned from throughout the past 40+ years. He is all those things and much more. For me he is dad, the person I’ve looked up too my whole life. He’s caring, loving, affectionate, he’s my hero.  He has spent many of his years taking care of his home, kids, pets, loved ones, students and career and now the rolls have reversed for I am now the one caring for him.

Not many of you know and I’m sure many have wondered where my dad has been these past few years.... well unfortunately he has fallen ill to a brain disorder called primary progressive aphasia a type of dementia. It has been very hard on not only on him but for the whole family and for those who looked up to him and learned from him. As his daughter seeing him in this state had been extremely hard for he struggles with words, speech, reading, understanding, short term memory and more. For those who have known him know him to be basically the opposite of all these things.

A year ago this month we had to unfortunately sell my dads beautiful lake chelan home, my childhood home. He could no longer keep it up, afford it or be alone any longer. It was a very tough time for the whole family. Though that was hard we were able to move him closer to me into an adult home facility so he can be helped when needed and so I can also be near help. When we had sold his home the money he had got from the house was only enough to pay for a one year stay at this beautiful facility. My dad absolutely loves it there and so does his best pal Rocky, his Black lab. He has become very comfortable, secure and familiar with the facility and it’s surroundings, it is very hard for him now to be around new places so to have to move him or worse be kicked out would be the worst possible thing for him and his condition. Unfortunately Medicaid hasn’t been an easy situation and it is still unknown how long until it kicks in to start taking over the rent for where he lives. I am asking now for your support for my dad. He needs us all right now to stay where he now calls home. His world had been turned upside down too many times these past couple of years and the last thing I want is for him to be kicked out or have to be moved. He has zero money coming in besides his $1200  dollar social security check. This facility, his home is over $4000 a month. Its tough that it’s come to this but my dad needs help. I will help if I can but much is needed to secure his well-being and home. Anything helps and would be very much appreciated by him and the whole family for which this is a hard time. Any money received will go directly into his rent so he can stay.  Thank you for reading this long post. Please share this across the martial arts community and in general and feel free to comment. He needs the extra love and will deeply appreciate anything that comes his way .Thank you all
