Hello from the five Holt siblings. We are making this Go Fund Me page because we have nowhere else to turn. Our Dad has taken care of us five kids by himself while facing aggressive cancer for the past three years. He was diagnosed with advanced stage colon cancer, and the cancer spread to multiple places in his body.
Our Dad went through arduous surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments. We watched him go from 240 pounds down to 120 pounds while fighting this whole journey. On May 29, 2018, we sat together and saw our Dad take his last breath. He was the strongest man we know, and we always believed nothing could ever defeat him.
Our Dad raised all five of us by himself. He was the best Dad in the world, and now that he is gone, we are truly on our own. We have not seen or heard from our mother in six years. Our mother plays no part in our lives because she physically, emotionally, and mentally abused us through our childhoods. We could not tell anyone, even our Dad, because we were told we would never see our Dad again and be placed in foster homes if we said anything. We went through an immense court battle over the course of several years, which drained all of our Dad’s savings.
Our Dad sacrificed everything as he fought for custody just to keep us safe. The continuous stress, compounded by the cancer, was too much for our Dad to take. Our once strong and healthy father collapsed on a job site and was taken to the emergency room. A battery of tests revealed the shocking truth that he had cancer. In fact, the doctors told us they were surprised our Dad even lived for as long as he had.
Our Dad was always strong. but now that he is gone, Tiffany, our oldest sister who is 20 years old, has legal guardianship of the two minors Seth(16) and Sabrina(17).
We love our Dad beyond words and naturally feel his suffering is unfair when all he did was try to raise his children the best he could. He has always taught us to do what’s right and follow the ways of the Lord. All of us are Honors students. Three of us have graduated from high school and in the past have turned down multiple scholarships for college out of necessity to work full-time. Max, the eldest brother, has been Dad’s primary caregiver at home. The three eldest children plan to start college this upcoming fall while the other two are still in high school.
Not only have these adversities taken a toll on us emotionally and physically, but also financially. All of our Dad’s savings have been used to pay legal expenses, medical treatments, and doctors. We are in desperate need of money to be able to pay for our father’s funeral costs. We also have many other pressing financial needs which include securing stable housing, bills, everyday living expenses, etc. We are extremely thankful for any help at this time. We lost the most important person in our lives, our Dad. There are no words to express how much we are going to miss him. He was our everything, and although we don’t know how we are going to live without him, we also know he does not want us to live in the state we have found ourselves. We urge you to find it in your hearts to help us bury our father, find a new home, and pursue the lives Dad worked so hard to provide all his children.
