Holiday Appeal 2021

Tax deductible
This December our choirs will sing again before a live audience, joining harpist Nuiko Wadden to perform Benjamin Britten’s beloved “A Ceremony of Carols”

Beautifully suited to the warmth and purity of young women’s voices, Britten composed Ceremony of Carols in the dark days of the Second World War as an expression of hope and belief in a better future. Originally composed for children's choir, he conceived of the piece literally as the voice of the future.

There have been some darks days lately - but like Britten himself, Pittsburgh Girls Choir believes in a bright future. We believe, like Britten, that music is hope. We believe that music education enriches students’ lives, now and in later life.

We believe that everyone should have that opportunity, and we adjust tuition fees according to household income so that every girl who wants to sing with us can join us, whatever her family resources.

That isn’t an easy commitment for a small arts education program, but it’s one of the ways we open the door to choral music education for girls in our community, at a time when school programs in the arts and music are becoming ever more scarce.

Please help us keep that door open.
