Hokey's Ceramic Studio

It has been my passion for many years now to have a studio of my own, to use as a tool, to share the good news of Christ to the world using ceramics. I first realized my passion for art in 8th grade and discovered that I wanted to make it my life's ministry during my senior year in high school.  I originally went to college for painting but then quickly realized I wanted my ministry involved in pottery. I received a BFA in Ceramics and Sculpture at Millikin University in 2012. I now reside in the township of Fredonia, WI with my lovely wife and two boys. My eldest is 5 and my youngest is only 2. I have been working tediously over the past 2 years adding soil, stone, and finishing up the inside of the pole barn to a workable state.  Feel free to visit my Facebook page for the construction album and previous art work. All of the art that you see in the albums and much more were created in college and sold at art fairs.  All of the sales from my early work were applied to the first stages of construction.

Sanctification. What does that word mean? The process of pottery presents itself as a perfect picture for how Jesus works through us in order for us to become more holy. Scripture even references ceramics multiple times. One of my favorites is Jeremiah 18:3-4. There are moments in our lives that put us through the fire even when we are perfectly comfortable being where we are as an unfinished product.  He can use that fire, the situations that test and try us, in order to defeat our struggles. As with each step in the pottery process, we become stronger after each trial. When we resist the potter or go our own way, be it pride, anger, lust, etc., we tend to flop. But that's ok, he'll just pick you back up and start where you left off. Once you put your full trust in Christ, he truly takes us from an old creation, an old vessel, and makes us into something brand new and gorgeous.

By supporting me with this dream, you will help me reach others with a unique style. I don't want this studio just for me or my family, but I believe that it is my duty and privilege to use this talent to spread the gospel. As you all are aware, the world seems to be getting darker and more corrupt. Man is left to their own heart's desires. I believe I can help shine some light back into the face of darkness.

The money raised will go to helping me jump-start into production. It will be a "starting point" that will be the foundation of the many years to come. I will use the studio to its and my own fullest potential and help grow it into a larger ministry. My goal in the many years to come is to be able to go full time with a larger facility, located in a nearby city, that can house several wheels for lessons and a store front/gallery to spread the Good News to even more people.

Whatever support gets raised, I will be truly blessed and grateful for. It will not go unnoticed and I appreciate all of the love, support, and prayers for this endeavor. Thank you so much for your partnership and kindness.

Sincerely,
