Bob's Medical Fund
Donation protected
Bob recently asked me, "why do people need GoFundMe, they have good insurance?" I have to admit, I agreed with this question. Of course, nothing prepares you for the devastation felt by a potentially deadly illness. When we pondered this thought, we didn't take into consideration the financial strain felt by the family. While Bob lays in the cardiac ICU, I am never far away, not only to offer my love and support, but to sign consent forms for the multiple treatments. This comes at a cost, of course. Being here, available, means that I am not at work, earning my wage. Bob as well, has limited earned time as he has had two previous open heart surgeries in the past few years.
If it weren't for the infection that ravaged Bob's heart, we would be living our lives, plugging along, like regular people. Unfortunately, that wasn't in the cards for us. Instead, we are here at Mass General in Boston, while my husband struggles daily for his life, and our wonderful family and I keep vigil. I am not the kind of person to ask for help, neither is Bob, but I am willing to put aside my pride for him. I would do anything to ensure the well being of a man who has been my best friend for so many years and would be so thankful for the help that you have to offer.
