It’s amazing how life can take different twists and turns. One moment we can be flying high, and the next moment we find ourselves in a situation that is very scary.
This is David Danny Flores, my first born Son and his sweet daughter. He's a hard-working, single father. For about three months he had been sick on and off, going to the doctor and getting misdiagnosed a couple of times. Then a few days ago his hand started hurting terribly, so he and his younger brother decided to go to the hospital. Although they were concerned about his red, swollen hand, their concerns immediately turned when they heard an irregular heartbeat, and a severe murmur as well.
After multiple tests, they concluded that there is a heart valve (Mitral valve) that is infected, and through the infection has created a “vegetation” to grow on the valve, (it’s called endocarditis, a rare diagnosis, with fewer than 200,000 cases in the U.S. per year) and it has completely destroyed the valve. His Mitral valve needs to be replaced with a mechanical valve, fast. The pain in his hand was explained to be pieces of the vegetation, being broken off his heart and into his blood stream, then into his hand, cutting off circulation. This is very dangerous if it spreads anywhere else. (Namely, the brain)
Obviously the hospital stay and surgery will cost thousands, but in order for him to fully recover, and thwart the possibility of getting another infection (in which he could be highly susceptible) six weeks of extensive aftercare is needed as well. He will need to undergo six weeks of aggressive antibiotics, until his full recovery.
When all this happened, he found himself without insurance. I would love to extend a hand out to him by putting this together. Giving people an opportunity to give, support and be a blessing to him. I'm sure at a time like this there's so much on his mind, but we need him to be strong and healthy and 100% healed for himself, his daughter and for his family.
Danny is an amazing young man, an oldest brother to four siblings, and we love him so much. We would appreciate any donations that will help him get through this time in his life. Also he will turn 30 on September 14, so this can also be looked at as "happy birthday Danny boy". We are believing God for a beautiful miracle.
