Please help us support Robert and Kathy (Rushing) Stephens in Robert's cancer fight!
Robert was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer in November 2016 and has been fighting this dreadful disease ever since. Hormone Therapy Treatment from MD Anderson had been successful in controlling the tumor growth. However, in November 2017, Robert started having excruciating headaches, neck pain, and nausea. After a seizure in the doctor's office he was evaluated at the local hospital ER. The results were inconclusive and he was dismissed and told to see his local oncologist. After considering all the options, they made an appointment with Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Atlanta.
While there they met with their CTCA pastor, learned about the integrative approach to care, had a bone scan and head MRI. Both the Medical oncologist and the Radiology Oncologist concur to treat the spot on his skull with radiation on December 18-22. The spot on his skull has grown to be quite large and could possibly become brain invasive. His PSA has risen substantially so he may need to take a chemo pill which works with the current hormone therapy shot. The radiation on the pelvic area will be needed if the hormone therapy fails.
This precious couple has continually asked that we lift Robert up in prayer. Their faith is so strong and they are so grateful for those who have already been supportive in so many ways.
However, as their friends, we recognize the immediate and critical financial burden they are facing. Along with the incredible medical bills they are also faced with the cost of travel, hotel rooms, and all the other expenses that go along with this awful disease. CTCA does help some with these costs.
Robert is currently employed with Diamond Industrial in North Carolina on a contract through May 2019. However, with his current situation it is not out of the realm of possibility that he won't be able to work every day. The future is just unknown. These funds will also be used to cover lost wages if he is unable to work.

We have personally witnessed, time and time again, their support of us personally as well as their friends and families. It is now time we help them!
