Hive Wedding, a short film Directed by Sam Kerns
Don protégé
This summer, I'll be making my film directing debut with a piece I wrote titled HIVE WEDDING.
This project already holds a special place in my heart, and I can't wait to begin work. I'm making this movie with the most incredible team of collaborators: old friends, new friends, the entire staff at Good Judy's, and even a member of my Mother's Monday night golf league. It takes an abundance of love and support to make a movie, and now I am asking for your help, too.
Your contribution will make producing this project possible. Additionally, you will be listed with a producing credit on the film if you so wish. Thank you for your unending support and belief in me as an artist and as a filmmaker.m
A little more about HIVE WEDDING:
The film follows Mizzy, bride-to-be and socialite, who chooses an abandoned nightclub to host her strange destination wedding. ‘The Hive’ opens its doors for one final soirée where mysterious rock stars, nightlife regulars, and cultured clubgoers come together to send Mizzy off in style.
Inspired by society women of the 1960s, drag queens of the 1970s, punk rockers of the 1980s, and club kids of the 1990s, Hive Wedding is an amalgamation of camp, queerness, and anti-establishment aesthetics. As a result, the world is simultaneously glamorous and gritty, mirroring those who attend the club.
Think neon lights, wigs, fishnets, empty champagne bottles, painted ashtrays, leather corsets, feather boas, red high heels, lipstick-stained collars, and a disco ball that sparkles even when the lights are dim.
