Hit by car, Save Lilly's Leg

Donation protected
Lilly was adopted from the local city shelter in San Antonio, Texas as a puppy.  Almost 2 weeks ago she was found laying on the side of the road unable to walk because she had been hit by a car.

Lilly was once again taken to ACS (Animal Control Services) which is a very high kill shelter here in San Antonio.  Her previous owners did not want to deal with her injuries and left her there to be euthanized.  My rescue put in a request to pull Lilly and save her life the day she was scheduled to be put down.

Once I got Lilly that splint on her leg did not slow her down, she was ready to get out of there -- she was almost running.  The picture of her in back of my Tahoe is what we call a "Freedom Ride" from ACS.  I called Lilly and she jumped from the back of the Tahoe to the front seat!  She has plenty of spirit and she is a very happy girl.

I left ACS and took Lilly immediately to my vet at Callaghan Road Animal Hospital so I could get an accurate diagnosis of her injuries.  Her Radius and Ulna are broken in pieces and she has an infection in her leg.  The infection due to sitting at ACS for so long without receiving medical attention.

I was given 2 choices, the orthopedist said a plate could be placed in Lilly's leg and she would keep her leg and be fine.  Or I could have her leg amputated.  Lilly will be placed up for adoption as she really deserves a 2nd chance at getting a loving forever home.

Now with all of that being said, Lilly is a beautiful dog inside and out.  That video was taken at the vets office while we were waiting to be seen.  I would rub her head and whenI stopped she would push her head under my hand and whimper for more!  Then she would fall on the floor for belly rubs.

She greeted everyone she meet who entered the clinic and she tried to play with all of the dogs.  She even got on her hind legs, put her paws on my shoulders and gave me a hug..  Oh, this is the best, she tried to shake my hand with her injured leg/paw!!!!

Her surgery and all that is necessary comes to $1707.63 but that does not include the 2 follow up exams and xrays.

Let's help Lilly keep her smile and sunny disposition and get her the plate she needs in her leg.

PLEASE consider donating to Lilly.  You can donation here or call Callaghan Animal Road Hospital directly and donate to Lilly under Roxy's K9 Rescue (210) [phone redacted].
