Hit and Run Victim Dale Lylyk

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michele Lylyk, I am needing help to raise funds for my son Dale Lylyk.  Dale was on life support at Royal Columbian Hospital after being hit and left to die by a hit and run vehicle in Abbotsford on April 26th while crossing Hillcrest near Clearbrook. The driver fled the scene of the accident leaving my son to die on the road from his massive injuries, he had several skull fractures and internaldamage. Paramedics came across my son and took him to the abbotsford hospital. We received a knock on the door at 1:00 am from the Abbotsford police saying my son had been hit and we should go and see him that he is in critical condition. We just came out of one trauma when my 7-year-old grandson had grandmal seizures in March and I lost my job while trying to deal with that trauma leaving us with limited funds for gas to get to the hospitals, he was in New West in the ICU untit where they had to put a monitor in his brain to monitor the swelling and bleeding in the brain.  They also found internal bleeding and had to do another surgery to remove part of his small intestine. That was two back-to-back surgeries, first on his brain then on his internal organs. He was kept in a coma for several weeks while his brain and body healed. He had several milestonesto overcome. . He had to learn to to eat, how to talk, how to walk. His brain has  trouble with processing. He will need months of physio, mental health, Occupational therapy and help in a care facility to allow the brain to continue to heal, they are seeking a location for him now (Burnaby has been mentioned and we are waiting final approval )to continue his healing journey. They do not know if he will have permanent brain damage until after the year of healing, he struggles with understanding things. He has moments he remembers his kids and other times he doesnt know.  He has 6 kids that live with their moms and call him often. Its not fair the challenges put on him. The next place he will call home will be a locked facility  and we need help to even be able to get there. This is a long process, we thank you for your patience, kindness and understanding as we continue to struggle through this. They said his comprehension is at a level 4, there are 8 levels, we are hoping he  will continue to heal and excel in his progress. As he has done amazing in such a short time.  He is young and strong and we have faith in our creator to continue to heal him and in the power of prayer., we thank everyone for their continued prayers. No mother should have to ask for help to be able to have a way to continue to see her son but we are desperate and in need of help. We had no idea the cost on daily transporatation (gas is 100 every few days not including if you want to take him on an outing there are no funds for it), food we spent several thousand on meals, he was not allowed to leave the hospitalgrounds so itvwas cafeteria food for all three meals , replacing clothing has been expensiveand i thank everyone for their help, the clothing we bought were discarded by the hospital, replacing contacts just under $800 and they are almost gone, he has a few more cases, glasses just under $90] and other vital necessities like his phone, tv, internet  $160 per month or his cigarettes (the only refuge he has to escape the room he is stuck in until he heals). He needs your help and we continue to need your help to be able  to see him daily  to provide the support he needs..  i still have not gotten him.a bed, hes grown in size and needs new clothing, he needs something to help keep his brain learning and occupied. Thank you for all the outpouring from the community, your kindness has helped make this horribletragedya littleeasier knowing the kindnessout there and the prayers for him. . Thank you to the doctors, nurses, surgeons, and police for their investigation. Thank you to Global News for giving my son a voice when he has none. A 24-year-old has since turned themselves in as the hit and run driver. No charges have been laid, we know there is an investigation and hope for justice for Dale. We ask you to please share this if you can, that is a huge help, and please continue to pray for my son. God bless thank you. for updates on Dale you can go to KY Facebook page where I post publicly how he is doing daily and his progress.  If you xoom up on the picture you can see the one of the scars  from his brain surgery.
