Mental health is everyone’s business.
We all have it .... but we very rarely learn to share how we are to those around us or to those that care. this was the case for my husband Peter Vint who lost his life to suicide on 26th April 2017. Peter like most who die did not have any diagnosed illness and was not known to mental health service; so the first we knew was when he died.
Since then I have in my healing journey tried to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with poor mental health and suicide. As part of the original go fund campaign, I was trekking the Himalayas in Peter Vint’s Memory with my friend Mark Daly in Nov 2020, to raise funds for Flourish and succeed CiC which includes the buffalo mindset project, the Hive Men’s Group, the women’s group, the women’s fitness project and the vulnerable families project to name but a few . Working in the community, with the community, for the community.
Flourish and succeed CiC was established by managing directors Tosh Fielding and Shelly Ward. Since September 2020, I was asked to come on board at flourish and succeed CiC as a director and lead coordinator for the men’s hive group which has been running now since August 2019. The group is much needed to proved a safe haven were men can meet and talk. During lockdown via zoom, walk and talks and other safe activities that follow Covid guidelines. They also have the women’s group which is run by director and lead coordinator Leanne Jones.
Due to the impact of Covid this challenge was postponed, then cancelled , with the charity receiving funds …
An important message I would like to share is that its good to talk, to say how you feel. People will listen they want to hear. it is okay not to be okay. Don't feel afraid or alone, I am here for you too. You are loved and you matter. Stay safe xx
