Hilston´s Braille Bible

Hilston Guifarro is an incredible Christian man who has been preaching the word of God for a long time in Catacamas, Honduras. 30 years ago, Hilston lost vision in both eyes, but he has not let that prevent him from serving the Lord. He learned to read Braille in an institute for the blind back in the 90´s and he still uses it on a daily basis. He is even involved in teaching other people to read Braille. Obviously his favorite book is the Bible, but for most blind people in this part of the world (and in almost every third-world country), it is nearly impossible to get their hands on a complete Braille Bible. The cost is prohibitive.  Hilston and others like him usually have to rely on audio files to listen to the Bible. This is a great resource, but if you are like me (and if you are like Hilston!), you prefer to read the Bible for yourself instead of listen to someone else read it. There is one volunteer organization in the US which provides Braille Bibles in Spanish, free of charge, but the version they produce is not a literal translation. 

I want to raise $3,500 to have La Biblia de las Americas, a solid, literal translation of the complete Bible, transcribed into Braille and printed. The total cost of this endeavour will likely be much more than that amount (shipping within the US and transportation to Honduras are not included). I have contacted roughly 20 Braille transcription and printing companies to gather all the information possible and have spoken with volunteer organizations to try to find an easier or more economic way of doing this, but so far I am aware of none. 

We need to collect the funds for Hilston´s Bible by the end of June, at the very latest, in order to give the printer nearly 6 months to work on it before I (Lord willing) return to Honduras for a couple weeks in December/January, when I will be able to personally deliver the Bible to Hilston. 

I´ve never organized a serious fundraiser, but I can´t stand the thought of a blind preacher without access to a good copy of the Bible. There are millions of people in need in Honduras, but Hilston stands out above the rest. I can´t thank you enough for your help and I know God will be glorified by any amount you are able to contribute.
