I have been unemployed since Sept 2016.I was wrongfully terminated from a position I had held for 18 years.I was 54,full time and making 11.25 an hour plus benefits.I was replaced by a 24 year old for 8.25 an hour.I offered my employer a voluntary pay cut or a reduction in hours-my offer was refused.I filed a workplace discrimination lawsuit with the EEO.The suit was dismissed when no one would testify on my behalf.In retaliation,my employer appealed my unemployment award of 562.00 bi-wkly.The referee ruled in the companies favor,saying I was fired for poor sales and insubordination.I have been turned down constantly for jobs as a result.I don't pass the background and reference checks.

I went home and informed my family that I was unemployed suddenly.My husband suffered a stroke 3 days later.We found him on the floor bleeding after he hit the wood coffee table.My 18 year old daughter Bethany had just graduated West Mifflin Area High School on the honor roll.She had just landed a job at Giant Eagle.Instead of staying home to help pay the mortgage she moved out.


I am the primary caregiver for my 73 yr old husband William.He has a hard time walking and caring for himself.He also has hearing,vision and balance issues.He is terrified of doctors and refuses to leave the house.His issues make it difficult to maintain our old run down frame house.Our only steady income is 648.00 in Social Security.We urgently need roof repair work and a new hot water heater.Ours is leaking badly and we shut it off when not in use.My personal wish list is a washer and dryer,along with a cheap legal car.I do everything on the bus with a backpack!Try doing your shopping and laundry like that when you're sick and frail.It wears you out!
